1. About MyHood
MyHood is operated by TryMyHood, based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This policy covers trymyhood.com, our mobile apps, and related support, waitlist and listing submissions. Personal information means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to a person.
MyHood is for people aged 13 and older. Higher local age restrictions and parental authorization requirements may apply. For privacy questions or requests, contact our Privacy Officer at support@trymyhood.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide, information generated when you use MyHood, and information from services you choose to use:
- Account and profile: email, sign-in information, username, display name, optional photo and biography, age group, city, neighbourhood, interests, social links and preferences. Google sign-in may provide your identifier, email, name and profile image; we do not receive your Google password.
- Activity and content: saved places and events, visits, ratings, event plans and confirmed attendance, lists, photos, listing suggestions, affiliations, follows, follow requests, connections, blocks and reports.
- Progress: exploration goals, points, streaks, milestones, referrals and relevant activity dates and timezone.
- Location: your selected city or neighbourhood, approximate area from network information, and device coordinates and accuracy when you grant permission.
- Device and service information: IP address, browser and device details, session and security information, errors, notification preferences and, for push notifications, device identifiers, push tokens and delivery information.
- Communications: support messages, waitlist details and other information you send us. Uploaded photos may contain metadata. Other members may provide information about you through invitations, connections or reports.
Required information is identified when requested. Without it, the related account or feature may be unavailable. Optional profile details, photos, social links and submissions are voluntary.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide accounts and local discovery; personalize results using interests, area and relevant activity; apply age and service-area restrictions; maintain history and lists; support community sharing; administer rewards and referrals; deliver requested messages; review submissions; respond to support; prevent misuse; and meet legal obligations.
Where European or UK data-protection law applies, our grounds are contract for processing necessary to provide requested services under a valid agreement; consent for processing that requires permission; legitimate interests in proportionate service administration, improvement and protection; and applicable legal obligations. We balance legitimate interests against your rights, particularly those of teenagers. You may withdraw consent or object where applicable. Reading or accepting this policy is not blanket consent.
A heart saves an item. A visit rating does not automatically save a place. Removing a heart does not delete visits or ratings. Going is a plan and does not automatically become confirmed attendance.
4. Location and permissions
With permission, device location supports nearby results, maps, distances and service-area eligibility. Location may be requested when you open discovery or use a nearby feature. MyHood does not use continuous background location tracking or live location sharing between members.
You can revoke location, camera, photo and notification permissions in browser or device settings. This may limit a feature. You can choose an active launch city to register without location permission. Selected-city features remain available where supported. Turning off location does not delete recorded activity or your selected area.
Map and place services may receive coordinates, search terms or place identifiers needed for your request. Upload only information and photos you have authority to share, and avoid including unwanted personal details or metadata.
5. What others can see
Basic profiles can be found by other signed-in members, subject to blocking. They can show your username, display name, photo, biography, city, neighbourhood, interests and connection counts. Social links appear when their sharing is enabled. Your account email and age group are not basic public profile fields.
Private activity does not hide your basic profile. With private activity enabled, eligible activity is restricted to you and approved followers. Otherwise, it may be visible to other signed-in members. Individual list and feature restrictions also apply. Saves, visits and event plans may appear in permitted Friends activity or notifications.
Profile photos can be viewed by anyone who obtains their public image link, even when activity is private. Private lists are restricted to their owner; ranking participation has a separate opt-in where available. Blocking or changing a setting cannot recall copies or screenshots others have already made. Consider these visibility rules before adding personal details or photos.
7. Your rights and deletion requests
Available settings let you edit your profile and preferences, manage activity sharing, follows and blocks, control social links and change notifications. To request access, a copy, correction, deletion, portability, consent withdrawal, restriction, objection or another applicable privacy right, email support@trymyhood.com.
To delete your account in MyHood, open Settings, choose Delete account and confirm permanent deletion. You can also email us from your account email address to request deletion. Signing out, uninstalling or removing a heart does not delete your account. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes or unnecessary identity documents.
We handle requests within applicable legal deadlines and explain any lawful extension, refusal or retention exception. Rights and exceptions depend on the law that applies to you. Requests are free unless a lawful exception permits a disclosed reasonable fee. We do not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
Applicable rights can include Canadian access, correction and consent withdrawal; California access, correction, deletion, portability, authorized-agent requests, sale or sharing opt-outs and limits on certain sensitive-information uses; and European or UK restriction, objection, portability and protections concerning significant automated decisions. Because we do not sell information or share it for cross-context advertising, there is currently no such sale or advertising sharing to opt out of.
Consent withdrawal does not invalidate earlier lawful processing and can limit a feature that requires the information. For a review or applicable appeal, email us with “Privacy appeal”. You may complain to a regulator or use another available remedy without first completing our internal process.
8. Retention, security and transfers
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected or a specific lawful obligation. This depends on whether your account or request remains active, the feature involved, security needs, and applicable legal requirements. Account and activity information supports your ongoing account; support and waitlist information supports your request; device registrations support notifications; and limited records may be needed for security, consent, rights requests or legal claims.
When information is no longer necessary, it must be deleted or de-identified. Some limited records may remain where retention is legally necessary, and protected backup copies may remain until replaced or removed. Retention exceptions do not authorize unrelated use. Ask us about information retained in connection with a deletion request.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and risks. No service can guarantee absolute security. This does not reduce our legal duties, including required incident notifications, or your rights.
Information may be processed outside Canada or your country by service providers, where government-access rules can differ. International processing must satisfy applicable transfer requirements. For European or UK information, this can require an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards and necessary additional measures. Contact us for information about recipients, processing locations and applicable safeguards.
9. Age eligibility
You must be at least 13 to use MyHood. Accounts for children under 13 are not permitted, including with parental permission. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact support@trymyhood.com so we can investigate, restrict access and take appropriate steps to remove the information, subject to specific legal obligations.
A higher local minimum age or parental authorization requirement may apply. Do not use MyHood or a feature unless the age and authorization requirements that apply to you are satisfied. Parent requests depend on lawful authority and the young person’s own rights. Venue and event age restrictions apply separately.
Teenagers should review the visibility rules in section 5, use available privacy and blocking controls, and avoid sharing sensitive details about their location or routine.
10. Changes and contact
We update the effective date and provide notice of material changes. Where a new use requires consent, we obtain it before that use begins; continued use alone is not an affirmative consent choice.

This policy does not waive statutory rights, impose arbitration or limit legally protected remedies. Our Terms of Service explain use of MyHood.
